The Chief Executive Officer of Berekum Chelsea Football Club Ralph Gyambrah has blamed negative media reportage for the decline of Ghana football insisting it drives prospective sponsors away.
Reports in the media have indicated that the Berekum-based Premier League side is being put up for sale due to the handlers inability to secure funding for the club following the departure of Mr. Alex Kyeremeh.
But Gyambrah insists the sporting media should be blames for clubs' inability to secure sponsorship to run their activities.
“You approach a lot of sponsors and they will tell you, we don’t have enough budget. There are so many allegations that have been leveled against football people, and the brand is gradually being tainted,” he told Starr Sports.
“And you ask yourself, is it the direction we want to go? All the football industry players must come on board and ensure that we do the right thing and try and rebrand the sports," he added.
Chelsea played in the group stage of the 2012 CAF Champions League under the financial umbrella of Alex Kyeremeh but have been struggling in the Ghana Premier League since that time.
