TOP STORY: Chelsea to finally land Alex Sandro

Chelsea could make a splash in January by returning to Juventus to sign Alex Sandro, reports the Mirror, though Manchester United are also in the running.

The Blues were knocked back by the Old Lady last summer but failure to commit to a new deal and a dip in form has convinced the Italians to sell.

Antonio Conte could get his man for £50 million, which would put the former Porto star just behind Benjamin Mendy (£52m) as the most expensive full-back of all time.

Alex could transform Chelsea's attacking output down the left side, though Marcos Alonso has chipped in with an impressive five Premier League goals this term. The Spaniard could become an option at centre-back though, having played there for Fiorentina.

Speaking of La Viola, Chelsea could be set to miss out on one of Stefano Pioli's top players Federico Chiesa.

Talksport claims Napoli will make an opening offer of £35m for the 20-year-old winger, who is also being targeted by Tottenham.

Liverpool demand £130m to sell Coutinho

Liverpool will insist on a fee of £130m or more to sell Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona this month, reports the Telegraph.

The Brazilian has long been keen to move to the Camp Nou, though the Reds stood firm last summer when the Blaugrana intensified their interest.

Now though a move could be on the cards, with sources in England and Spain claiming Liverpool have softened their stance. Barca's highest offer last summer was £115m.

Mourinho eyes Lucas Moura

Paris Saint-Germain winger Lucas Moura is a target for Jose Mourinho this month with the Sun reporting that Manchester United want the Brazil international.

The Red Devils prefer a loan deal but the Ligue 1 club will only agree to a temporary switch if it leads to a £40m permanent move in the summer.

United were in the running for Lucas in 2012 when he moved to the French capital from Sao Paulo in a £38m deal.

But the 25-year-old could finally end up at Old Trafford six years on and would prefer to link up with Mourinho over a big-money move to Beijing Guoan.

PSG to beat United for Diarra

Paris Saint-Germain could be busy this month and are close to signing Lassana Diarra ahead of Manchester United, reports SFR Sport, with the former France international available on a free transfer.

The 32-year-old, who has enjoyed spells at Chelsea, Arsenal and Real Madrid, had his contract terminated by Al Jazira last month.

An agreement over a one-and-a-half or two-and-a-half year contract is reportedly close.

Diarra also has offers from AC Milan, Galatasaray, Fenerbahce and St Etienne as he bids to resume his career.

Tap-ins

- Marko Pjaca could have a late change of heart as Juventus finalise his loan deal -- likely to the Bundesliga.

Sky Sport transfer guru Gianluca Di Marzio believes the the Croatian could join Wolfsburg despite Schalke agreeing a deal with the Italian champions.

- Watford will make an £8m move for Sunderland's out-of-favour midfielder Didier Ndong, claims the Watford Observer.

Marco Silva is looking to bolster his midfielder and with Ndong not an automatic starter for the Black Cats in their relegation battle, and Chris Coleman may welcome the sale to raise funds to boost his squad elsewhere.

- The LA Times reports that former Chelsea star Ashley Cole will imminently pen a new deal with the LA Galaxy.
