Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho has hinted that he could seal the signing of Ghana defender Baba Abdul-Rahman in the coming days.
The manager of the English champions reiterated his desire to boost his squad with the season set to start on Saturday as the Agusburg player remains key to their intentions.
Chelsea have signed Radamel Falcao and Asmir Begovic this summer but they are keen on adding to the squad.
And while those two are likely to be squad players rather than starters, Mourinho is keen to add at least another left-back following the departure of Filipe Luis to Atletico Madrid.
Baba Rahman is his first choice, but there have also been links with Danny Rose of Tottenham.
"We need a left-back, the board know that and my feeling is that we are going to have one," Mourinho said.
AUgsburg have already rejected the ã17.5m offer placed by Chelsea for the Ghanaian left-back.
