CHELSEA have reportedly sounded out the availability of Tottenham defender Danny Rose as they are seeking options to Ghana defender Baba Rahman following the dithering of his club Augsburg.
Chelsea remain in limbo over the arrival of Baba Rahman from the German side after the Bundesliga club turned down a bumper £17m offer to sign the youngster.
The Ghanaian right-back target has been reportedly valued at £25m by Augsburg which has led to the stand-off even though the player has agreed personal terms with the Blues.
It was hoped a deal would have been completed as Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho seeks new recruits ahead of the season opener this weekend.
However the hardline stance of Augsburg has prompted Chelsea to consider other options.
While Augsburg star Abdul Baba Rahman is a key target for boss Jose Mourinho, the club have asked Spurs to name their price for Rose, according to The Mirror.
The 25-year-old is understood to now be Mourinho's option as he would boost the champions' quota of homegrown players - a concern for the club.
The Blues are in need of a new left-back this summer following the departure of Filipe Luis.
The Brazilian completely failed to settle in west London and made his abrupt exit from Stamford Bridge to rejoin Atletico Madrid earlier in the summer.
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino does not want to let his man go but does have cover in that position after bringing Ben Davies in from Swansea last summer for £9m.
Chelsea reportedly made enquiries over the former Leeds academy star last weekend and are willing to pay upwards of £15m to land him.
The Mirror say that should a move for Rose fail to materialise, Chelsea will press on with their pursuit of Baba Rahman.
Rose made 34 appearances for Spurs in all competitions last term, scoring four goals.
He was also named in Roy Hodgson's England squad in August but is yet to win his first full international cap.
