CHELSEA, Conte: “Marcos Alonso and David Luiz both need a bit of time”

Published on: 09 September 2016

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is satisfied for his last two signings – Marcos Alonso from Fiorentina and David Luiz from PSG – as they can both ‘improve our squad’, but added they need to train with commitment to show the Italian manager they deserve to play.

“I think the new players need a bit of time to work with a new method, a new philosophy, a new idea of football â€“ Conte said – and it’s important to give them a bit of time”,

“For this reason their chance of playing from the start is not high”.

When asked about the opportunity to play with three central defenders, Conte revealed: “It can be a solution, yeah. It can happen in the future. This squad can play with 3-4-3, not 3-5-2 like the Italy national team or Juventus, because of the characteristics of the players”.
