Ghana defender Baba Abdul-Rahman continues to be ostracised from Chelsea's English Premier League action as he was not part of the squad that rallied to hold Newcastle to a 2-2 draw over the weekend.

The right-back was excluded from the team that played at St James Park, more than one month after joining the club in a bumper transfer from German side Augsburg.

Baba has played in two competitive matches for Chelsea in the Champions League and the League Cup but he is yet to play in the Premier League which is highly anticipated by Ghanaians.

However named his match day squad for the Newcastle game without of the former Augsburg player raising questions about whether Baba Rahman will get a fair chance at Chelsea especially with Branislav Ivanovic not on a good run of form.

Coach Jose Mourinho had already hinted that the Ghanaian is not yet ready for duties in the Premier League.

The Ghanaian defender watched from the stands as Chelsea scored twice in the last 11 minutes to earn a point and deny Newcastle a first win of the season in Saturday's clash.

Ayoze Perez made the most of a lapse by Kurt Zouma to fire the Magpies in front and Georginio Wijnaldum extended their lead with a stooping header.

But Ramires reduced the deficit with a fierce 25-yard strike and Willian equalised when his free-kick from the left sailed straight in.

Ramires went close to winning it for Chelsea but saw his late header saved.

The manner of their late comeback makes this a point gained for the defending champions, but they remain in the bottom half of the table and are eight points behind new leaders Manchester United.

Newcastle stay second-bottom, a point ahead of north-east neighbours Sunderland.
