Chelsea great warns Arsenal star Ozil against Turkey move

Chelsea legend Michael Ballack has urged Mesut Ozil not to make a move to the Turkish Super Lig.

Ozil's long term future at Arsenal has been cast into doubt recently as he has not yet signed an extension to his contract at the Emirates Stadium which will expire in 2018.

Unsurprisingly, a host of clubs are currently monitoring the situation of Ozil and recent reports have claimed that Turkish giants Fenerbahce are interested in a move for the 28-year-old as a replacement for Robin van Persie.

However, Chelsea great Ballack does not think that the Germany international should be tempted by the riches on offer from Fenerbahce and has urged the attacking midfielder to keep playing at the highest level for the foreseeable future.

Ballack told talkSPORT: "Ozil is too good to play in that league.

"He's playing at a top club in Arsenal and he's a fantastic player - he has what not many footballers have.

"The quality he has is world class, he has showed that many times, especially for Germany, but he is not performing well and now it's on him to analyse it and think about what he wants.

"He can play for any club in the world if his head is right."
