Chelsea icon Ballack to Ozil: Leave Arsenal for Bayern Munich

Published on: 09 February 2017

Michael Ballack has instructed his compatriot Mesut Ozil that he will only achieve success if he leaves Arsenal.

The 28-year-old playmaker has been with the Gunners since joining from Real Madrid in 2013 and has only won two FA Cups in England so far.

Ozil's current contract expires in 18 months and according to fellow German and former Chelsea star Ballack, the time has come for the cultured left-footer to return to his homeland and enjoy plenty of success with Bayern Munich.

"Mesut is an amazing player. He knows that he is one of the undisputed stars at Arsenal," Ballack told Bild.

"A lot of clubs would love to have him.

"He lives in London, one of the most beautiful cities ever. To this end, Arsenal is a club that has an incredible impact on the world.

"If you are a top player in England, the cult around you is bigger than in Germany. You are treated more respectfully, especially. These are all reasons for an extension.

"But if he wants to win a major title, he has a bigger chance to achieve that at Bayern."
