According to Portuguese newsapaper Jornal de Noticias Chelsea made a shocking offer for Sporting Lisbon star João Mario.
It's understood that the Blues bid € 50m ( £ 38m) before the Euros: this made the Portuguese side hopeful that someone could still pay the €60m ( £ 45m) release clause this summer.
