Baba Rahman has been frustrated over the lack of movement in the Chelsea deal

Ghana defender Baba Abdul-Rahman's performance for Augsburg in their German FA Cup game on Friday has raised concerns that the calculated delays by the Bundesliga is severely affecting the focus of the talented star.

The Ghanaian, courted by Chelsea for weeks with a bumper transfers sum, looked unhappy, fidgety and unfocused during the 3-1 over lower tier side Elversberg.

Augsburg's rejection of the £17.5 offer from Chelsea is clearly frustrating the player who is keen on the big chance of playing in the world's most popular league under one of the best managers on earth Jose Mourinho.

His advisor Kurt Okraku has travelled from Baba's homeland of Ghana to help convince Augsburg to release the player shows how frustration levels are rising over the German side's intransigence.

Augsburg will make a healthy profit of 22m Euros if they allow Baba just one season after joining the club yet the Germans are angling for more money while their stubbornness is clearly affecting the highly disciplined Ghanaian.

In recent friendlies Baba was excluded from the squad but the decision to play him in German FA Cup game looks to have turned the head of the Ghanaian who is rightly afraid of potential injuries.

The chance of playing in the UEFA Champions League could be spurned by an ambitious players from a third division player who are keen on impressing by putting his leg forward for every challenge.

After the cup match Baba was seen in a conversation with sporting director Stefan Reuter, then the chat ended with the Ghanaian's head hanging to the team bus.

Regardless of the outcome of the Baba-transfer wrangling, Augsburg must not delude themselves into believing that they can drag the matter to exact the biggest transfer sum when the defender is only a youngster.
