Baba Rahman's impending move to Chelsea has made Augsburg proud, according to coach Markus Weinzierl.
Rahman, 21, joined Augsburg a year ago from second-tier side Greuther Furth for just €2.5 million but his performances last season have generated interest.
Sources told ESPN FC late last month that Chelsea were confident of securing a deal for Rahman, and the Ghana left-back's agent said last week that personal terms had been agreed.
German football magazine kicker reported on Monday that the transfer is expected to go through this week, likely for a fee of around €25m, after negotiations between the two clubs entered the final stage.
Weinzierl, who led Augsburg to fifth place in the Bundesliga last season, said Rahman's progress was testament to the club's work.
"I would like to continue working with all players, but when you sign someone like Baba from the second division and he's on Chelsea's radar 12 months later, it does make the coaching staff proud," Weinzierl told kicker.
Rahman had been brought in to replace Matthias Ostrzolek, who joined Hamburg in 2014, and also played in the second division before making a name for himself at Augsburg.
"It's striking that, after Matthias Ostrzolek, our left-back is interesting other clubs for the second consecutive year," Weinzierl said. "That's down to our style of play. We are very active on the full-back positions, and the left-back profits from the good teammates on his side."
Augsburg have already brought in Philipp Max from Karlsruher SC to replace Rahman, although the Ghanian played 120 minutes as the club narrowly avoided a DFB Pokal upset against SV Elversberg on Friday.
