Chicago Fire are preparing for Saturday’s fixture against Montreal Impact without Ghana striker David Accam in the MLS.

Accam, 24, is on international duty with his native Ghana as they take on Rwanda in an African Cup of Nations qualifier on Saturday.

The Men in Red will miss the absence of starter David Accam as the side ravel to Stade Saputo for a key night matchup with the Montreal Impact.

Fire head coach Frank Yallop hasn’t had much communication with Ghana’s staff, but he hopes Accam will return ready to go for Chicago’s Sept. 11 match against New York Red Bulls.

“David’s a very, very good player,” Fire head coach Frank Yallop said: “When we have him on the field, we tend to not only play well, but we’re dangerous and we’re good.”

Both sides, separated by a single point in the table, are equally hungry to walk away with the three points in an effort to remain in the hunt for one of six Eastern Conference playoff spots.
