Striker David Accam believes the perception of the MLS being an inferior league is increasingly changing with more Ghanaians moving to play in the USA.

Accam, 24, is yet to get a good run out with the Black Stars despite being a regular member of the squad in the recent times.

The former Helsingborg man was feared to be joining a league for retirees when joined Chicago Fire last year.

He has however since turned out to be one of the good additions to the American top flight with his consistent displays.

The MLS have in recent years been also able to attract some big name players from Europe.

The Ghanaian contingent in the MLS also keeps growing with Harrison Afful being the latest to join the league.

And David Accam feels the migration of more Ghanaian players to the US has helped changed the negative perception about the competition in the MLS.

“We have more Ghanaians in the league now,” he said.

“There is Dominic Oduro who is scoring week in week out, there is now Harrison Afful and Kwarasey also.

“Kwadwo Poku is now also a key player for New York despite the presence of a lot of big players there.

“So Ghanaians are beginning to see that the MLS is also competitive and I am sure more are following the league now.”

Close to 10 Ghanaians players currently ply their trade with top flight American clubs with Gershon Koffie inching closer to winning the MLS title with Vancouver Whitecaps.
