Ghana defender Daniel Opare says his international teammate Christian Atsu convinced him to sign for Portuguese giants FC Porto.
Atsu was in the books of the Dragons for three years before leaving to join English Premier League side Chelsea last summer.
Opare was available on a free transfer after his contract with Belgian side Standard Liege ended at the end of the season.
European sides including AS Roma, Lens and English giants Arsenal were seeking him but the 23-year-old opted for Porto due to Atsuââ¬â¢s influence.
ââ¬ÅHe recommended the team, spoke highly about the club and helped me know a little more about the club,â⬠Opare revealed in an interview with FC Portoââ¬â¢s official website.
Opare can play on either side of defence and that could be his trump card but must do more to dethroned regulars Danilo and Alex Sandro.
