Winger Christian Atsu says he is waiting in the wings to debut for Bournemouth in the English Premier League.

The Ghana international is on loan from English champions Chelsea but he is yet to feature in the league.

Atsu picked up an injury before their final pre-season and has since been overlooked by manager Eddie Howe.

But he played first his first competitive match in the 4-0 win over Hartlepool last month and was in action for Ghana in their 1-0 win over Rwanda in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

“Personally, I’m feeling fit and I’m waiting for my opportunity. I’m doing my best each and every day to be ready because I really want to play," he said.

"I hope I will get my chance soon because I have settled well off the pitch. I have lived all over the world and Bournemouth is a very nice town in my opinion. One of the most important things is that there are a lot of sunny days."

Bournemouth are 16th on the Barclays Premier League table with one win; one draw and three defeats from the opening five matches.
