Ghana winger Christian Atsu scored the consolation goal for Vitesse Arnhem in their 3-1 Eredivisie defeat to FC Groningen on Saturday.

The 22-year-old pegged the scoring for the Rats in the 39th minute after Dutch-born Ghanaian defender Johan Kappelhof had set up the first goal for Groningen at the Euroborg.

The Chelsea loanee raced into space to collect a well-tailored through pass from Guram Kashia and artfully chipped the ball over the onrushing committed Bizot to settle the scoring.

But Vitesse were unable to maintain the scoring as the host returned from the break to score two more goals to shock the visitors.

Vitesse were hoping for victory to keep their title ambitions in line but the host stunned them to win the tie.

Atsu's goal was his fourth in the league season.
