Winger Christian Atsu won his first major silverware as FC Porto beat Academica 1-0 in the Portuguese Super Cup on Saturday.

The Ghana international lasted 58 minutes before making way for Angolan Manuel Djalma early in the second half.

It took a 90th minute strike by Jackson Martinez to hand the Portuguese League champions their first piece of silverware of the brand new season.

Atsu has managed to break into the Porto first team after impressing on loan at Rio Ave last season.

He also impressed on his national team debut in June where he scored in the Black Stars' 7-0 thrashing of Lesotho in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers.

The 20-year-old is part of the latest Ghana squad which plays China in an international friendly in Beijing on Wednesday.
