Christian Atsu's move to Chelsea stalled over playing time concerns

Christian Atsu could join Chelsea

Christian Atsu’s move to English club Chelsea has stalled over the Ghana winger’s concerns of getting enough playing time under Jose Mourinho.

The Blues are locked in discussions with Porto for the 21-year-old who is out of contract at the end of the current campaign.

Atsu has refused to renew his running out contract with the Portuguese champions – rather preferring a move elsewhere.

Chelsea are said to have had their reported three-and-a-half million pounds bid accepted but the player has raised concerns over his first team opportunities at Stamford Bridge during negotiations of his personal terms.

This has delayed the move which was expected to have been completed by Wednesday night.

The Europa League champions are reportedly looking to sign the Ghana international on a four-year deal but will be immediately loaned out to an unnamed club to keep him active.

With already established players at Chelsea, many believe a move for Atsu to Stamford Bridge will prove counterproductive for his young career.

HOW DOES CHELSEA BUY HIM FROM PORTO, THEN SEND HIM BACK ON LOAN TO THE SAME CLUB HE IS HAVING ISSUES WITH? MUAHAHAAAA. CHELSEA, SHOULD JUST LOAN HIM TO ANOTHER CLUB IN THE EPL WHERE ATSU CAN PLAY REGULAR...SUNDERLAND, FULHAM ETC....

I dont think liverpool are still interested in atsu. They have almost completed the signing of victor moses(loan) and they've just bid for yarmalenko. Both are wingers and also tottenham have signed some wingers. So i dont think both clubs are still interested in atsu.I would loved atsu to be loaned to epl clubs like everton, westbrom or swansea. He'll easily walk into their 1st team or any top club outside england but not espanyol. His talents would just go unnoticed their.

As a chelsea fan,the truth is that chelsea already have up to ten good wingers/attacking midfielders doing well on loan that are forgotten. When chelsea loans a player out they hardly call them back.Out of over ten attacking midfielders doing well on loan, only debruyne was called back.I've found out that roman/emenalo are into a good business of buying numerous cheap players and then loaning them out for 2-3 years, after their loan spells, their stocks would have risen high and out of the many on loan, only 1 or 2 that were over-exceptional would be called back while the rest would be sold for huge profits or loaned again to a different club. Very Good business. And i believe that is also the case with atsu. They'll buy him at 3.5mill and i heard his agent said chelsea are trying to loan him for two years to espanyol. So if he is loaned there,After the two years if he does well, his value would have increased to about 15mill then chelsea would sell him on profit. But if he performs exceptionally better than the over 10 wingers/AMs on loan(includingT.Hazard,marin,piazon,e.t.c) he might get a chance to be called back.If chelsea really needs a player, after he is bought,he wouldnt be loaned out.But if a player is loaned out, know they just want to use the player for business unless he performs exceptionally better than the rest on loan,he'll be called back just like lukaku, omeruo, kalas and de bruyne. That's the chelsea policy.

Is playing with Porto reserves better than being signed on by Chelsea and playing on loan at another club?....Learn from Boakye-Yiadom....he has joined Elche in Spain. If you miss this opportunity you will rot with the reserves

Chelsea have lots of players on loan and this has been their policy for the past few years. A lot of their players get forgotten through this policy. The fee being demanded for him by Porto, £3.5m, isn't that much so if he can find another club with a better guarantee of playing time then he should consider it seriously. He's an age where he needs to be playing regularly to gain professional experience. He's no longer an 18/19 year old. Regular first team football is a must!
