Hearts coach CK Akunnor is delighted with the progress made and confident his side can mount a serious challenge for the title.

The capital-based side have been in top-shape in the off-season where they have chalked some decent results in friendly matches.

They thrashed newly promoted Amidaus Professionals 3-0 in their biggest off-season game  at the Tema Stadium on Wednesday and the former Ghana captain is in buoyant mood ahead of the start of the new campaign.

“I am impressed with the level of improvements in the team and I believe this year will be a different story,” Akunnor said

“We struggled against Dwarfs especially at the back but you realize that the midfielders fought for all the 50-50 balls and that tells you how ready we’re for the upcoming season.

“We will continue with our preparations steadly and hopefully we can make our fans happy.”

Hearts are desperate to return to the top of Ghana Football after playing catch-ups to emerging forces like Aduana Stars and Berekum Chelsea in the past two seasons.

The Phobians have triumphed in six matches and yet to lose a game in the pre-season.
