Donsah is wanted by Juventus and Chelsea

CHELSEA and Juventus have both held talks with Cagliari over the signing of Ghanaian midfielder Godfred Donsah.

Cagliari president Tommaso Giulini today confirmed the club had discussed a transfer with Blues officials this summer.

He also revealed Juventus are keen to land the 19-year-old midfielder and offered ex-Parma striker Alberto Cerri as part of the deal.

But Giulini insists the youngster will remain at the club this season.

“We had a chat a few weeks ago with Juventus and Chelsea, but I am stunned by all these rumours around him. The lad needs to grow up with us," Giulini said.

“We have many other players on low wages and their contracts will be renewed at the right time, including Donsah’s.

“We received a request to attend a meeting via a lawyer, but I am accustomed to doing things a different way.

"As soon as the right moment comes, we’ll be happy to renew his contract.”

Cagliari reportedly rejected a £4.2million bid from Juve for Donsah, while Sampdoria and Bologna are also known to be keen on the ace.

Donsah joined Cagliari from Serie A side Palermo after having a brief stint on loan at Verona.

Liverpool were also said to be interested in the youngster but no move materialised.
