Manama: An AFC Member Association Coaching Instructors Course is currently underway in Manama organised by the Bahrain Football Association (BFA).

The course, taking place from January 2 to 12, aims to develop new coaching instructors for the delivery of their domestic courses. Participating are 11 coaches, three of whom are from Oman and one from Syria.

The course opening was attended by BFA Board Member and Head of Women’s Football Committee Shaikha Hessa binte Khalid al Khalifa along with BFA General Secretary Hassan Ismail. In her opening remarks, Shaikha stressed on the important role played by instructors in the key area of coach education and urged them to do their best in the course.

The course is being delivered by FIFA/AFC Coaching Instructor Mohamed Basir from Singapore. The 10-day course covers various aspects of being an instructor when delivering coaching courses. Key topics such as course administration, contents management, delivery methodologies for theory and practical sessions, student-coach management, assessment protocols, scoring and moderating are being delivered.

Basir said, “The course organisation has been impeccable under the leadership of Aabed Al Ansari and his staff with excellent facilities at the BFA headquarters and training centre. This course will be very instrumental for Bahrain FA in their next steps in the development of coach education in anticipation of the upcoming Coaching Convention that will be announced soon. It is a very strategic and timely move to organise this course which will open up a lot of opportunities and the development of football for the FA.”

Aabed Al Ansari, BFA Technical Director, said, “This course is a key element that will allow us to continue our strategies started in 2013. On behalf of BFA, I want to thank the AFC and instructor for delivering it.”
