Comprehensive wrap: How Ghanaian stars performed abroad over the weekend

Black Stars regulars Kwadwo Asamoah and Harrison Afful were on target for their various clubs over the weekend while David Accam also scored from the spot in Helsingborg's friendly loss to Spartak Moscow. 

Michael Essien dropped to the AC Milan bench while Shadrach Eghan's FC Twente punched Christian Atsu and Vitesse Arnhem while Richard Kingson kept a clean sheet for Balikesirspor in the Turkish second-tier.

Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu set up a goal for Dusan Basta in Udinese's 3-3 draw at Genoa.

GERMANY

Anthony Annan was on the Schalke 04 bench when they beat Bayer Leverkusen 2-1 at the BayArena. Kevin-Prince Boateng played the full 90 minutes for Schalke.

Karim Bellarabi played the full 90 minutes of the game for Eintracht Braunschweig when they beat Hamburg SV 4-2 to boost their survival hopes.

In the Bundesliga II, Arminia Bielefeld remain in the grips of relegation after losing 4-0 at Paderborn. Ghanaian defender Marcel Appiah played the entire 90 minutes of the game for Bielefeld.

Baba Abdul Rahman  was in action for Greuther Furth and got booked in the 34th minute as they drew 1-1 with Karlsruher SC.

Evans Owusu Nyarko played the full 90 minutes for Borussia Dortmund II when they beat Chemnitzer FC 3-0.

Attacker Phil Ofosu-Aryeh played the entire 90 minutes for MSV Duisburg when they managed to run away with a 3-2 win over Rot-Weiß Erfurt.

SWITZERLAND

FC Sion lost 1-0 at FC Basel. Ebenezer Assifuah started the game for Sion while Ishmael Yartey came off the bench after 77 minutes.

Samuel Afum was brought on in the last 6 minutes of the game by Young Boys who thrashed Lausanne Sport 5-3 on Sunday.

ENGLAND

Youngster Koby Arthur continued to stay out of the Birmingham City team as he failed to make their squad for their 2-1 home loss to Huddersfield. Dutch-born Akwasi Asante was also not in the Birmingham team.

Winger Albert Adomah played full throttle for ten-man Middlesbrough who lost 1-0 at Watford.

SCOTLAND

Hibernian managed a slender 2-1 win over Ross County. Arsenal loanee Daniel Boateng came off the bench in the 84th minute to play his first game for Hibs while Dutch-born Kevin Luckassen was introduced by Ross County on the 74th minute mark.

PORTUGAL

Vitória Guimarães sneak past Rio Ave with a 1-0 win. Ghana full-back David Addy played the entire 90 minutes of the game for Vitória Guimarães.

Haminu Dramani was not in the Gil Vicente team when they lost 2-1 to FC Porto at their own backyard.

In the Liga de Honra, Alhassan Wakaso played the entire 90 minutes for Portimonense who held Penafiel to a 0-0 draw.

CROATIA

Ghana's Lee Addy played the entire 90 minutes for Dinamo Zagreb who beat Split 2-1 at their favourite Stadion Maksimir.

BELGIUM

Lokeren remain in the championship play-off place after managing a 1-1 draw at Gent. Ghanaian youngster Eugene Nana Ansah warmed the bench for Lokeren but Nana Akwasi Asare played the entire minutes for Gent.

Frank Acheampong missed Anderlecht's 2-0 win over Mons with injury.

Genk recorded their second win in five games after beating Lierse SK 1-0. And, Ghana midfielder Bennard Kumordzi played in midfield for the Blues. Marvin Ofori-Appiah was not picked by Genk for the game.

Abdul Yakinu-Iddi was injured while French-born Jerry Vandam missed KV Mechelen's 1-1 home draw with KV Oostende.

Injury kept Daniel Opare out of the Standard Liege team when they posted a 2-1 win over Sporting Charleroi. Former Heart of Lions midfielder Abraham Kudemor was not in the Sporting team.

Former Ghana U17 midfielder Enock Adu-Kofi was not picked by Club Brugge for their 3-1 home win over Kortrijk.

In the Second Division, midfielder Stephen Asamoah played for AS Eupen when they lost 1-0 at home to Mouscron-Péruwelz.

TURKEY

Richard Kingson manned the post for Bal?kesirspor when helped them to beat Gaziantep BB 1-0 to keep their title ambitions in sight.

Striker Kwame Karikari missed the game through injury.

Emmanuel Banahene was not in the ?anl?urfaspor when they lost 1-0 to Fethiyespor.

NETHERLANDS

ITALY

AC Milan needed a Mario Balotelli strike to beat Bologna 1-0 at the Stadio San Siro. Sulley Muntari came off the bench to 27 minutes for Milan but Michael Essien sat on the Milan bench.

AC Milan loanee Kingsley Boateng watched from the bench as his Catania side beat Lazio 3-1 on Sunday.

Kwadwo Asamoah scored a sensational 17th minute opening goal for Juventus when they beat Chievo Verona 3-1 at the Juventus Arena on Sunday.

Alfred Duncan played 76 minutes for nine-man Livorno who beat Cagliari 2-1 in an awa fixture.

Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu set up the opening goal for Dusan Basta with a miraculous cross as Udinese drew 3-3 at Genoa. Badu played the full 90 minutes of the game but compatriot Isaac Cofie was unused by Genoa.

Afriyie Acquah was replaced in the 68th minute by Parma who disgraced Atalanta 4-0 at their favourite Stadio Atleti Azzurri d'Italia in Bergamo.

Sassuolo continue to languish at the foot of the table after suffering a 2-0 home loss to Napoli. Midfielder Raman Chibsah came off the bench in the 67th minute to play for Sassuolo.

In the Serie B, Masahudu Alhassan played the entire 90 minutes for Latina who pipped Cittadella 1-0.

Maxwell Acosty played 67 minutes for Carpi who held Empoli to a 1-1 draw.

Nii Nortey Ashong was a bench warmer for Spezia in their 3-1 home triumph over Crotone.

Moro Al-Hassan was unused by Cesena in their 0-0 draw with nine-man Palermo.

Ahmed Barusso was not in the Novara team when they lost 1-0 to Padova.

Brescia and Ternana drew 1-1, Mase Nana Addo Welbeck and former Inter Milan Primavera striker Isaac Ntow were not in the Brescia team.

Amidu Salifu was a full-timer for Modena and helped them to beat Bari 4-0 to boost their promotion chances.

SOUTH AFRICA

Croaked Daniel Agyei and Abdul Basit watched from the stands when their Free State Stars beat Golden Arrows 2-1 in the Absa Premier League on Saturday.

Fatau Dauda completed his first 90 minutes of action for Orlando Pirates but they lost 1-0 to Polokwane City.

Rashid Sumaila was on the Sundowns bench when they posted a 3-2 win over Ajax Cape Town.

John Arwuah played 82 minutes for AmaZulu when they lost 1-0 to Wits University. 

Mpumalanga Black Aces beat Maritzburg United 2-1. Defender Awal Mohammed played the full 90 minutes for United but Frank Sarfo-Gyamfi sat on the bench.

TUNISIA

Ghana defender Harrison Afful scored an 18th minute goal for Esperance de Tunis when they posted a 2-0 win over Stade Tunisien.
