Ghana defender Lawrence Lartey was a stalwart at the back as Ajax Cape Town a 2-1 away win at Angolan side Sagrada Esperanca 2-1 in their CAF Confederation Cup first round first leg qualifier.

The centre-back, who signed for the Absa Premiership side last year on a free transfer, played the entire duration.

Ajax Cape Town wasted no time though getting themselves on the front foot and to that secure an away-goal when Ruzaigh Gamildien fired home after 14 minutes with an inch-perfect free-kick.

However, their lead didn’t last long, all about four minutes to be precise when the home side drew level from the spot through Antonio Oliveira.

After the break, Ajax found themselves back in the driving seat through Riyaad Norodien in the 53rd minute.
