Asante Kotoko goalkeepers’ coach Joe Baah has picked Joseph Addo as first choice keeper for upcoming 2014/15 season.

Addo, a former Ghana U20 goalkeeper, was between the sticks when Kotoko won the league and Cup double last term despite a slow start.

The former Hearts of Lions goalkeeper has been given the nod ahead of injured Isaac Amoako and Ghana youth international Eric Ofori Antwi, a new signing, and Felix Annan who has returned from a loan spell at RTU.

“In things like this you need to have your first keeper, second, third and then fourth goalkeeper. I can surely say that Joseph Addo is my first goalkeeper,” Baah told the club’s website.

“Isaac Amoako, but for his injury, should have come second but we are not sure when exactly he is returning. So, the second position is between Felix Annan and Ofori Antwi.

“The three available goalkeepers are all national assets. Antwi and Felix were with the U-20 and Addo was with the Black Meteors. Antwi was first choice for Amidaus and Felix also qualified RTU to the Middle League.

“I know what all of them can do so there is going to be competition. And, they are ready; Felix is ready and Antwi is also ready.

“We will play a lot of games because we will compete in the league, FA Cup and the Champions League. There is the possibility of injuries, fatigue and the likes and we cannot solely depend on one keeper.”

Addo was nominated for the Goalkeeper of the Year award in the recently held Ghana Premier League Awards Night.
