Ghana second tier club Pure Joy have confirmed receiving an official bid from Asante Kotoko for Uriah Asante.

The revelation of the Premier League champions’ interests was made by club President Isaac Tetteh hours after confirming the exciting 19-year-old will be leaving Hearts of Oak where he has been on loan for the past two seasons.

“There are about three clubs who have expressed interest in signing Uriah (Asante) and Kotoko is one of them,” Tetteh told Gold Power Sports.

In yet another major cross carpet move, Asante appears to have had enough of life in the capital and is looking for a fresh challenge in a new city which is looking increasingly likely to be in Kumasi with the Porcupine Warriors.

His main attraction for his prospective move to Kotoko, coach Maxwell Konadu is however no more with the club after taking up the assistant Black Stars coaching post.

Nevertheless, the 2011 All Africa Games gold medalist’s relationship with the Phobian fans seems to have gotten to the point of no return especially after infuriating the fans by congratulating Konadu and Kotoko for Premier League win at a point the title challenge was heating up.

Hearts on the other side also have themselves to blame after failing to meet the demands of Pure Joy to sign the player - raising doubts over their commitment and desire to keep hold of the teenager.

Whatever be the case, it will clearly be a big blow to Hearts to lose Asante who virtually won games for them through his sheer brilliance when the going got tough.

Asante could seal his move to Kotoko as early as Wednesday when the record league holders take on Pure Joy in a friendly game in Kumasi.
