Ghana defender Daniel Amartey is set to join English Premier League side Leicester City after Danish giants FC Copenhagen accepted a £6m offer for the talented centre-back.

The 21-year-old has also accepted the personal terms offered by the Foxes which means the move is set to be completed in the coming hours.

Amartey, who can play in midfield or defence, has been a long-term target for Leicester as they attempt to maintain lofty position in the Premier League table.

The Danish side have now accepted the bid for the Ghanaian defender who will now start the formalities of moving to England.

Copenhagen confirmed yesterday that they were in talks with Leicester City over Amartey after talks started this week.

“There has been rumours in the press about FC Copenhagen considering selling Daniel Amartey to the English club Leicester City,” read the statement from FC Copenhagen

“FC Copenhagen can confirm that we have received an offer on Daniel Amartey from Leicester City FC. Right now there’s talks between the two clubs. We will send out a new press release if a final agreement is reached.”

Amartey, who has been linked with Liverpool in the past, has made six appearances for Ghana.

He began his career in Europe with Swedish side Djurgardens.
