Sierra Leone to play DR Congo in Accra on September 10

Published on: 12 August 2014

CAF has confirmed that Sierra Leone will play next month’s 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against DR Congo in Accra.

The Group D qualifier was scheduled on September 10 in Freetown.

CAF has informed FECOFA (DR Congo Football Federation) that the qualifier has been relocated.

Ebola-affected Guinea will also host Togo outside the country in their opening game of the AFCON qualifiers in Group E, after Togo officials have asked CAF to move the match.

More fixtures may be affected as Rwanda are also raising concerns over Ebola ahead of a scheduled trip to Calabar on September 6, in their match opener in Group A against Nigeria who have confirmed ten Ebola cases so far.

These are part of efforts to contain the spread of the deadly Ebola virus in the sub-region.

To all those using precious time to reply to Mumbi and NONI(9JA 1ST SON), who cares about these 2 and what they write. They're only here because GSN thinks they give this site an international flavor. Whatever insults they heap on Ghanaians GSN will jump to publish them. But to tell you guys a truth, we gave a more serious matter to consider. Why our gov't has agreed to allow the game between these two countries to be played in Ghana simply beats my imagination. Don't they know the serious nature of this Ebola disease? Currently, it's worse than the Aids virus. When countries are closing their doors to the disease, we are being forced to open our doors to them. At what expense? Do we as a nation have a gov't at all. Our leaders are weak, pure and simple. Ivory Coast will refuse such a request outrightly. But ours is a gov't of "pushovers" . Poor Ghana!!!!!

I don't like this idea at all!! Are they coming with their fans? If they are coming with their fans, they should be ban from entering Ghana!! If indeed is true, only their national team should be allow to enter Ghana and none of their fans!! We should stop been fools! I don't believe this but if is really true, I repeat, only their team should be allow into Ghana! Ebola, started from Dr Congo and Sudan and hence, only Dr Congo team should be allow into Ghana and all their fans should be ban from coming with their team! What is wrong with us as a nation? We haven't fix our home yet but we always want to help others who wldnt mind us when we find ourselves in similar situations!! Should Ebola enter into Ghana, god should have mercy on us because unlike other African countries who doesn't have that empathy for their fellows countrymen and can watch them whiles they die, Ghanaians has that and hence one Ebola victim can spread like wild fire because we can't stand blood! I.coast is closer to sierra Leone, Senegal is closer, Mali is closer and why Ghana? This decision ll backfire on us and we ll live to regret it!! I sometimes don't understand our inept leaders!!

If this is true, only their players and technical teams and nothing else!! Their should step outside their territories because Ebola can be TRANSMITTED THRU SEX TOO!!! This shldnt go for sierra Leone alone but Dr Congo as well because they brought Ebola to the world togather with Sudan and hence the traits is still there! We should be serious because this is not a diseases to joke around!! This disease is a threat to national security and our inept, dummy leaders shouldn't entertain and play with it because of being ones brothers keeper!! Both teams should be isolated and besides we should learn from the US who checked all African heads of states during the recent UN summit! We should stop been nation of JOKERS!!
