TP Mazembe winger Solomon Asante says he is not surprised by his recall to the Ghana national team for next month’s opening 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The 23-year-old is returning to the Black Stars team having been overlooked by coach Kwesi Appiah for the 2014 World Cup.

Asante has been one of the leading performers for his Congolese club since arriving from Berekum Chelsea in 2013.

His impressive performances particularly in the CAF Champions League have caught the eye of the Ghana coach for September’s qualifiers against Uganda and Togo.

The diminutive winger however says he is not surprised by his returned call to the Black Stars.

“I am not particularly surprised even though the coach has several talented players to pick from,” Asante told Happy FM.

“The coach might have had in mind the kind of game he wants to play as the reason for bringing me back to the team.”

Ghana will play host to Uganda on September 5 in Kumasi before hitting the road five days later to face neighbouring Togo.
