Conte: My Italy are falling into place

Published on: 29 May 2016

Italy coach Antonio Conte believes that his ideas are being much better implemented now that he can work with the players on a daily basis.

The Azzurri will play in a friendly against Scotland on Sunday night in Malta and although the Italian coach wants his teams to work hard, he now has the opportunity to work on tactics and ball drills more frequently than he did with the players in the previous international breaks.

“Surely the daily work is taking place now,” Conte said in a pre-match press conference. “In these two years, we have already put my ideas on the team and in the few days of work that we have had in the past, we always worked hard.

“Now we have more time and surely my ideas can have a greater impact. I am now working as I had done at a club level.

“We are doing things particularly from a technical and tactical perspective. Otherwise, I would pick players based on who can run marathons.”
