Courtois urges Chelsea to ‘do whatever’ to secure Conte

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois wants Antonio Conte as manager for the long-term.

The Italian has made a great impression since arriving at Stamford Bridge after finishing his duties with the Italy national team in the summer.

Conte signed a three-year deal with the Blues who he has sitting pretty at the top of the Premier League table, but there are suggestions he would prefer to return to his homeland.

However, it is understood that his family are expected to join him in London so he can stay in charge at The Bridge for much longer, which delights Courtois.

"He's important for the club and I think the club knows that, so they will do whatever to have a happy ending," Courtois said.

"Maybe the league will be tougher next season. It depends on other teams but I think next season we can have a big say in the Premier League and the Champions League. We'll be fine.

"You see him on the line shouting and giving us instructions as a team and that gives a good feeling to the players on the pitch so you don't switch off.

"He's a manager with a lot of passion and he's always good for all the players to see a manager who's close to us."
