'Creative' thieves ransack AshGold dressing room in Bechem pre-season friendly - players lose millions
AshGold players were shocked to their dressing room ransacked through the roof

Players of Ghana champions AshGold have been left licking two wounds after intelligent thieves broke the roof of their dressing room and ransacked the building during their pre-season friendly in Bechem on Sunday.

Reeling from their 1-0 defeat at the hands of the home side, players of the Obuasi-based returned to the dressing to realise they have lost all their valuables to rub salt into the injury of the defeat.

The criminals made away with all the valuables belonging to the players and technical team of the Miners as players and officials of the team lost huge amounts of money, expensive watches, jewellery, dresses, shoes and designer bags as well as slippers.

Black Stars goalkeeper Fatau Dauda, touted as the richest players in the AshGold squad was a key target for the thieves but the equally intelligent did not travel with any valuables to the match.

A player in the AshGold squad lost $500 but his phone was spared.

No value has been placed on the items but estimated figures from sources within the team say they lost valuables worth about $50,000.

AshGold, who are preparing to play in the CAF Champions League, had suffered a shocking defeat and returned to the dressing room only to see their misery compound.

While some players and officials were angry other broke into laughter over what termed as 'creative thieves' who broke into the dressing room through the roof of their dressing room in Bechem.

A police complaint has been filed while embarrassed officials of Bechem United were seen apologising to their visitors.
