Only Criminals Want Kwesi Nyantakyi Out of Ghana FA – Araba Tagoe

Deputy Western Regional Women’s Organizer of the NDC, Araba Tagoe

A leading female member of Ghana's ruling NDC party has launched as astonishing attack on some of her party members seeking to oust Kwesi Nyantakyi as the Ghana FA president claiming those seeking the post are corrupt officials who cannot be trusted.

Araba Tagoe, deputy Western Regional Women’s Organizer of the NDC, says the plotters of the coup are personalities who embezzled monies in the past but are working to undermine the current FA because they no longer enjoy the “chop chop” they used to enjoy while at the FA.

Madam Tagoe, who is also a leading official of top-flight club Sekondi Hasaacas,

The no-nonsense NDC Regional executive and football enthusiast, made this damning statement in an interview with Happy FM on Thursday.

Speaking to Happy FM’s Kwadwo Mensah Moshoeshoe, Araba Tagoe stated “I want to tell Ghanaians that those condemning Nyantekyi are criminals. Only criminals are working against Nyantakyi and destroying him to get him out of the FA. These are the same people who conspired to embezzle monies which were supposed to be used to renovate the stadium sometime ago while they were at the FA. This was the renovation in before the year 2000.

These people were at the FA and created a lot of mess and rot but they are the ones who today are plotting against Kwesi Nyantakyi. They embezzled the money spent on the chairs at the stadium; they know themselves. I am not mentioning their names because they have not shown their faces but if they are men, they should come out and we will expose them”

Madam Tagoe disclosed that she had taken the unusual step to speak on radio against the plots going on because she had been in football for too long and knew those who were bad for football administration in Ghana.

“I have been in football for decades, even before most of those making noise came into football. I started at Vipers and then went to Kotoko; I and Helena Cobbinah formed Kotoko ladies before I came to Hassacas. I’ve been in football for very long so I know what I am talking about. There was a time these same people were conspiring with Ministry accountants to embezzle money while they were at the FA, something I know Kwesi has never done.

Someone called me that we should organize a demonstration against Nyantekyi, I told him that he was doing that because he was no longer enjoying the chop chop at the FA and that I won’t join.”

On the main calls for Kwesi Nyantakyi to resign as FA President, the NDC firebrand rubbished the comments and was amazed that the people who failed to send Ghana to a single World Cup after spending decades at the FA are today calling on Kwesi Nyantakyi to leave the FA even after he has supervised the qualification of Ghana to three successive World Cups.

“Those who were at the FA and embezzled monies and couldn’t send us to even one world cup are those who are today calling Nyantekyi a failure and plotting against him. How many World Cups has Kwesi taken us to? Is it not the same Kwesi Nyantekyi who took us to the World Cup in 2006 and 2010? So if things don’t go well in 2014, how do you conclude based on only that and say he should go?

Did anything happen in Germany or South Africa when we went there? Didn’t we do well in those two World Cups? All you hear them saying is that he has been there for too long but is that a crime? Has he embezzled money? Did he make himself GFA President? Is it not people who voted for him? So what is this issue that he has been at the FA for long?”

Araba Tagoe also dealt with fellow party man, Harry Zarkour, who is reported to have taunted GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi at a recently organized football forum and is reported to have openly declared his intentions to orchestrate a move to kick out Nyantakyi from the FA.

“Harry Zarkour was at Olympics, where did the team end; he was at Hearts, what structures were put up for Hearts? Look, we shouldn’t do politics with some of these things; people should stop this partisan politics with football. I am speaking as a football activist not NDC activist, if an NDC man starts something and it is not good for our football, I will speak against it. I have been in football for many years, I have seen various GFA chairmen and I know how those people mismanaged our football then.

“I don’t like Kwesi Nyantakyi, even if I am in Accra, ask Kwesi Nyantakyi if I go to him, I don’t but I am saying these things because I am a football activist, I don’t want people destroying it,” she declared.

You (selfmade)need to get the **** out of this forum with your idiotic and myopic backing of this thief. The only way Ghana can get to prominence again is to remove this monkey from the GFA. Look at this caricature trying to back Nyantakyi in the media. I had no idea that there are baboon-like woman in Ghana. An apelike woman with no hair supporting Nyantakyi shows how desperate Nyantakyi is in holding on to GFA. He needs to go to spare us all our grief and lets see what else he can do, probably nothing.

Hahahaha..thank you madam, some of us don't like Nyantakyi but the mere mention of these two names,Ade Coker and Harry Zakour make some of us even see Nyantakyi as a saint. What,Ade Coker and Harry Zakour??,mehn!,we should rather stick with Nyantakyi than these guys.Gbadagbe committee and it findings are still fresh on the minds of some of us.Ade Coker sold the likes of Awule Quaye junior,Owusu Afriyie to clubs in Spain for a period of ten years after Egypt 97.They sold the guys into slavery.Harry Zakour,hmmm..Sam Johson's transfer to Kalamata in Greece is still fresh on my mind. These guys were the dons of the 90s,hmm..I remember the transfer of Kuffour to Hearts, the deal that went on between Nana Sam Brew Butler and Harry, when kotoko had already paid part of the signing fee of kuffour to Nana Butler. These guys teamed up,return kotoko money and transfered him to Hearts. This happened under,SS Appiah,EK Adu or Georgido!!.

I agreed with Madam Araba Tagoe. Where were Harry Zak and others when Ghana couldn't qualified for a single World Cup until Akwasi Nyantakyi came to the dream light of Ghana Football? Even during Abedi Ayew Pele, Tony Yeboah ( a deadly skriker Ghana had ever had), Yaw Preko (Skillful Prayer ever had in Ghana), CK Akunnor, Prince Poly, Ibrahim Tanko, Nii Ankrah and others, Ghana still couldn't qualified for any FIFA World Cup because of corruted GFA Chairmen and Sports Ministers, including E.T Mensah, we had that time. Until Mr Kwasi Nyantakyi came to power, everything started to change. Nyantakyi has lifted the image of Ghana Foootball to the highest level. Some Ghanaian are like children, they only remember you when you buy them sweet things like ice cream. What a country are we?

OK he is guilty of corruption but are the people accusing him any diff from nyantakyi? Nyantakyi is 100 times better than coker! Ade coker is an opportunist who wants to use the fa to enrich himself again knowning very well that the future for his party is uncertain! All the NDC guys are pushing to be members of the fa to secure their future because they know that FIFA frowned upon governmental interferences!! Y'all should open your eyes that the likes of Ade coker are hurt because they have been sidelined by nyantakyi and his cronis from the WC monies and are just desperate to hang him! If there is nyantakyi and Ade coker, I CHOOSE NYANTAKYI any day!!

Oh Auntie Araba, you remind me of the days when these same people were toying with Ghanaians, chopping our money left, right and centre. Anyone remembers the hurriedly formed REKOC(Coker) and RELTUB(Butler) construction companies belonging to Ade Coker and Nana Butler respectively that awarded the multi million cedi contract of Accra and Kumasi stadia renovation to themselves prior to the CAN 2000?.As she rightly said ,the man was voted into that position, so let's wait for the next congress. No one is ever guaranteed 24/7 "hey days", you will have good and sometimes bad days. Ghanaians(25million coaches) talk tooooooooo much!!

Maame Araba: I was not at the FA before the year 2000 and am not there now. However, am all out for Nyantakyi to be step aside honorable before he disgraceful happened to him. The argument to oust Nyantakyi from the FA is not gimmick but a reality. Yes he was corrupt and has no respect for the playing body, the ministry of youth and sports if I may call it so... In fact Nyantakyi has no respect for Ghana government and FIFA as well. If he does have any regard for the above stated entities, the first thing he should have done upon arrival was not to apologize to Ghanaians but to step down honorably. Why he should resign: He's family traveled to Brazil under government bill and or FIFA. He knew about the bonuses that ridiculed Ghana and it's government world over before traveling to Brazil but he couldn't stop it. Armah Parker should have been thrown out of camp for abusing the powers accorded him by the FA for fist fighting Sulley Muntari. I won't say Sulley was wrong here because it's not about Sulley. Where there was no corruption and favoritism, Armah Parker would have been thrown out of camp too. The above stated reason was why we Ghanaians.... In fact most of us want Nyantakyi out of office immidiately. Nyantakyi was privy about all that happened in Brazil but failed to curtailed it because he has to have a scapegoat which he did out if the playing body. The playing body of today are no longer ignorant as the previous ones. They might not know all but they have it all! You name it and they'll provide it. They will defend themselves on whatever charges Nyantakyi is scapegoating them for and, that's when you'd realize how negligent Nyantakyi is/was. We can debate this issue all we want but Nyantakyi knows he's guilty of corruption. He's not ignorant but a very bright lawyer. To be continued if you so wished. Cheers

Whatever Nyantekyi has done in the past is history, madam. We the fans are not influenced by the plots of Zakour and his cohorts but the fallout is there for all to see.....Nyantekyi's hey days are gone and he must resign honorably. We are only waiting for him to tell the committee who payed for the wife, children and maid in Brazil. There are many young and trustworthy Ghanaians who can fill his shoes. You mess up ONCE and you are a gonna, no campaigns and favoritism here. We are no fools!

Look at what this 'man' is talking about. The issue at stake is not about Harry or Ade,it is about abysmal performance and mismanagement of G.F.A/technical bench so don't play the race card. Previously Nyantekyi did very well well but now he is going wayward, especially rewarding failure with extension of contracts plus good money. Nyantekyi's main problem was to retain Akwasi Appiah.
