Defender Daniel Opare believes Ghana can stop Cristiano Ronaldo when they clash with Portugal at 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
The 23-year-old is confident that his colleagues can control Ronaldo and are not intimidated by the Portuguese super star.
Heââ¬â¢s excited to play against his former Real Madrid teammate, but insists Ronaldo is just another opponent.
ââ¬ÅHe (Ronaldo) is one of the best players in the world and indeed the reigning World best player. So you can imagine the task on our hands,â⬠Opare is quoted by Happy FM
ââ¬ÅI played against him in a friendly during a training tour in Qatar. Donââ¬â¢t forget also that he was my former colleague at Real Madrid and we trained together.
ââ¬ÅFor us heââ¬â¢s just an opponent that we intend to tackle at the World Cup.
ââ¬ÅWe have to fight for each other when we meet Portugal or any of the teams because we want to progress and do well.
ââ¬ÅHe is a footballer and so why not?, I can handle him. I donââ¬â¢t want to talk too much. Letââ¬â¢s wait for the time and we shall all see how it goes.ââ¬
Ghana will play Portugal in the final group G game but the clash has been dominated by the countryââ¬â¢s ability to stop the reigning World Player of the Year.
The Black Stars will also engage old ââ¬Ëfriendsââ¬â¢ USA and Germany in a group hugely touted as the ââ¬Ëgroup of deathââ¬â¢.
