Crystal Palace manager Allardyce: This job keeps me young

Crystal Palace manager Sam Allardyce says being in the job keeps him young.

Allardyce says he relishes each day in football and that while there are highs and lows, he enjoys the challenge of trying to inspire others around him.

"I think that your life has its massive ups and downs and you can feel dejected at some stages and a little weary in your quiet moments," he said.

"At the end of the day when you walk through the door and you are the leader, you have to lead everybody forwards so you try to inspire everyone who is working for you on a day-to-day basis.

"The best part of the week is always working with the players, the staff, young people – it keeps you vibrant and it keeps you feeling not quite as old as you are.

"I am 62 now, but when I wake up I don't feel like I am 62 because I am going into an environment with young people trying to help them succeed.

"It stimulates you to walk into the training ground and try and achieve your best and try and get the players to achieve their best."
