Dan Quaye rules out Ghana Premier League switch

China-based defender Dan Quaye has made it clear he is not interested in playing for any of the local teams in Ghana.

The 31-year-old enjoyed an outstanding eight-year career at Hearts of Oak where he played an instrumental in the club’s six league title successes along with helping them lift the CAF Champions League in 2000 and CAF Confederation Cup in 2005.

The former Eleven Wise right back currently plays for Chinese League One side Beijing Baxy.

It has been rumoured that the ex-Chongqing Lifan player was considering coming home to play for one of the local sides after his Chinese side got relegated last season.

But the player has ruled out ever moving to the Premier League.

“I have no plans to play for any team in Ghana. It has not even crossed my mind,” Quaye told Accra-based Happy FM

“I’m comfortable with my Chinese team and I don’t think I will ever play in this country again.

“I am playing my normal game. I am just the same Dan Quaye that people knew seven, eight years ago but it just that many do not follow our performances.’

Quaye was member of the Ghana National Under-17 team that played at the FIFA U-17 World Championship held in Egypt in 1999.
