Self-proclaimed Dancehall king Shatta Wale has promised to raise GHâ1million (US$ 70,000) to support efforts by the Ministry of Youth and Sports to send fans to Brazil for the World Cup.
The controversial dancehall artiste made this pledge after he was appointed an ambassador for the FIFA World Cup.
ââ¬ÅThere are a couple of initiatives I am going to introduce that will raise GHâ1 million to support the Ministry of Youth and Sportsââ¬â¢ effort to send fans to the World Cup in Brazil,â⬠he told Daily Graphic.
ââ¬ÅI am going to have two autograph signings at the Accra Mall and at the Accra Stadium on dates that will be announced to the general public. Fans will pay a token for that purpose, and I will urge all my fans to text SCORE to 1474 on all networks to support the effort.ââ¬
Other ambassadors introduced at the ceremony held at the Labadi Beach Hotel included boxing legend, Azumah Nelson, former Black Stars captains, Stephen Appiah and Abedi Pele, and showbiz stars Becca, Grace Ashie and John Dumelo.
