Ghana international midfielder Daniel Amartey was denied a United Kingdom visa by the British Embassy in Denmark forcing him to miss FC Copenhagen's Europa League tie with Walsh side Newtown on Thursday night.

The 20-year-old versatile midfielder, who holds a Schengen access to European countries needed a visa to enter the UK but was denied by the authorities due to late submission of paperwork.

Amartey could not secure the visa before Copenhagen left for the UK, forcing manager Ståle Solbakken to do without him though he did not replace him in the squad.

Copenhagen claimed a 3-1 win over Newtown to advance on a 5-1 aggregate after winning the first-leg 2-0 in Denmark.
