Striker Danny Welbeck delivers final blow to Ghana

Striker Danny Welbeck has ended any hopes of playing for Ghana insisting that his future lies only with England.

The Manchester United player, who is on loan to Sunderland and born to Ghanaian parents, made his debut for the Three Lions in their friendly against Ghana last week.

But because the game was only a friendly he can still play for the Black Stars according to Fifa rules.

Welbeck told the Ghanaian media at Wembley after the debut that he will consider playing for the Black Stars if Fifa rules permit him.

Now he claims he was misquoted by Ghanaian reporters who

"I got misquoted on one of the questions. My future looks like it's with England, definitely," Welbeck said.

"I've been in Manchester all my life and I'm a Manchester through and through.

"I've played for England at all the youth levels up to the Under 21s and it just felt like progression to graduate to the seniors and, the other day, it happened as well."

Ghana's huge following at the Wembley Stadium booing Welbeck when he marked his debut against the country of his parents.
