Under-pressure Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Fatau Dauda has hit back at coach Roger De Sa for claiming heââ¬â¢s not done enough to merit a place in his squad describing the comment as way of saving his own blushes.Ã
The gaffer launched a stinging attack on the Ghanaian international on Monday when he claimed his performance at training has been below par.
The latest attack on the already under-pressure Dauda is feared could hamper his chances of representing his country at the World Cup in June.
The ex-Ashantigold last line of defense is under intense pressure to quit the South African side with clear signs he will not enjoy playing time under De Sa.
Managers of the club have been at loggerheads with the trainer for his persistent refusal to give Dauda a chance after current number one Meyiwa leaked goals badly.
The 28-year-old has expressed surprise at the trainerââ¬â¢s comment and feels he is making such claims to save his own blushes.
ââ¬ÅSome time back, he even said I was his third choice. Thereââ¬â¢s so much pressure on him and I even feel for him,â⬠Dauda told Kumasi-based Angel FM
ââ¬ÅHe only wanted to say something but only God knows the truth. Big clubs sometimes rotate their keepers if they donââ¬â¢t get the needed results and he could do same with the three keepers we have looking at our situation and the pressure.
ââ¬ÅI want to believe that he was forced to make those comments due to the pressure on him from the fans. If those comments are coming from a coach whoââ¬â¢s supposed to be the leader, then I will be very disappointed.ââ¬
The Black Stars current number one joined the Buccaneers at the start of the season but has struggled for playing time at the club.
