David Duncan wary not to 'burn out' Kotoko players ahead of new season

Kotoko coach David Duncan is desperate to keep his players fresh following growing uncertainty surrounding the start of the Premier League.

The 2015/16 Ghana Premier League kick starts on February 20, but uncertainty continues to grow due to unfinished litigation which has unduly delayed the start of the top-flight.

Kotoko paid a heavy price last season after players exceeded their energy level, leading to their failure to defend their Premier League crown.

Coach David Duncan admitted he was mindful not to burn them out before the start of the new campaign

“We are doing measured preparation so that by the time the league is underway, the team will not over peak. Technically, we are guarding against over compensation,” he told the club's official website

“We are not used to situations like this and it puts us in a catch 22 situation.

"If you leave the players redundant, they will go rusty. If you are playing too many matches too, you may eventually exert too much energy."
