Dede Ayew snubbed by Caf, Kwadwo Asamoah for promising talent award

Ghana midfield prodigy Andre Ayew has shockingly been left out Africa’s Most Promising Talent of the Year award by Caf.

But his compatriot Kwadwo Asamoah was named in the three-man shortlist for the players who showed most promise for this year.

Ayew’s exclusion is likely to generate some criticism as he was outstanding for both club and country this year.

Asamoah, who plays for Italian side Udinese, will face Algeria’s France-based striker Ryad Boudebouz and Moussa Maazou, the Nigerien attacker who plays for French club Bordeaux.

Asamoah was a key player for the Ghana team that reached the final of the Africa Cup of Nations in Angola in January.

He was also part of the World Cup team that reached the quarter finals in July in South Africa.

The award ceremony will be held in Cairo on 20 December.
