Ghana defender John Boye has played down on reports of the usage of ‘black power’ during the 2012 African Cup of Nations claiming it has not affected his club career.

The Black Stars touted as one of the favourite to win the ultimate diadem could only manage a fourth place finish at the continental showpiece.

But Serbian trainer Goran Stevanovic stated in his post –Nations cup reports that the over-reliance on black magic by the players derailed their chances of annexing the cup for the first time in 30-years.

The damning statement from the 45-year-old former Partizan Belgrade coach was leaked to the media which drew massive embarrassment for the players.

But the Rennes defender who was the revelation at the tournament staged in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea claims the report has not affected his club career.

“If it did exits, then I have no idea about it because I never saw anything like that, ”Boye said

“I am happy to be back to my club and the respect that I’ve earned after the African Cup of Nations makes me want to work harder than before.

“The juju story made rounds worldwide but unfortunately for me, it hasn’t affected my relationship with any of my colleagues here.

“I have been praying and working hard to get my chance to show what I could do.

“Well, I believe my hard work paid off although we couldn’t bring the main prize home. Winning gold was the dream and so we knew we let the whole nation down after placing fourth,”
