Ghanaian defender Mohammed Awal made his debut for Maritzburg United on Tuesday in in their 2-0 Absa Premiership win over Amazulu.
The centre-back lasted the entire duration at the Harry Gwala Stadium in a KZN derby.
Awal moved to the Team of Choice last month from Ghana Premier League champions Asante Kotoko.
His compatriot Frank Sarfo Gyamfi, also a summer signing, replaced Mandaza in the 76th minute.
