Defender Samuel Inkoom urges Ghanaians to close World Cup ranks

Defender Samuel Inkoom has pleaded with Ghanaians to close ranks and support the Black Stars squad named for the World Cup next month.

The Swiss-based wing-back says it is the only way Ghana can excel at the tournament in South Africa.

In the aftermath of most national team call-ups, Black Stars fans normally slate the squad but Inkoom says Ghanaians must unite to help the team gain success.

“I know that every fan has his favourite player but now that squad has been called to represent the honour and flag of Ghana,” Inkoom told Ghanasoccernet.com.

“We might be divided because we might want player A or B. But we must not divide ourselves because of this and leave the goal at hand.

“Our goal is to go to the World Cup and make the country proud and that be achieved only through hard work.

“Now the squad has been named and nothing can be done about it so lets unite behind the team and make improve of what we did in our maiden tournament in 2006.”

Inkoom says he is delighted to have been invited to form part of the squad to be playing in the world’s biggest sporting event.

“I am very excited and I grateful to the people of Ghana for the chance oit represent them, “ho told Ghanasoccernet.

“O promise that when I am called upon to play for my country I will do more than my best to bring success for the country.

Ghana will play Serbia, Australia and Germany in Group D.
