Ecstatic debutante midfielder Adu Kofi has vowed to fight to be part of Ghana's final 23-man squad for the Africa Cup of Nations after being named in the provisional team.

The Sweden based midfielder was handed his debut call-up on Wednesday in the Black Stars provisional 31-man squad for the tournament in Equatorial Guinea next month.

Kofi, who plays for Swedish side Malmo and has featured for various youth sides of Ghana, reveals he has been desperate for the chance to play for the Black Stars.

“I have been waiting for this opportunity to serve my nation, this indeed is a dream come true for me, I am really glad," Adu Kofi told Sports Crusader.

“We have an assignment to play in January and I want to be part of the final squad I know it is not going to be easy but I will try as much as possible to prove my worth on the field.

“For a coach to call you for a national assignment means a lot and I will reward him for the faith he has shown in me.”

Eight players will be dropped from Ghana's team for the tournament and Kofi must convince coach Avram Grant that he can be part of the final squad.
