Striker Abdul Aziz Yusif believes he will be the one to break the jinx of non-performing Ghanaian players in the Egyptian league once he finalizes his move to Ismaily.
The 22-year-old has confirmed his imminent departure from Asante Kotoko after lasting less than two seasons with the Premier League champions.
Aziz will be the latest Ghanaian player to make an attempt to make it in the North African country when he signs for Ismaily once he passes a medical and agrees to personal terms.
Ghanaian players have had a history of struggles whenever they travel to play in Egypt.
The likes of Eric Bekoe, Rahim Ayew and Junior Agogo have all played in the Egyptian top flight with minimal returns.
But the ex Real Tamale United striker wants to believe he will be successful in a country where many others of his kind have failed.
“In football, everyone with his luck and therefore one cannot make that direct comparison,†Aziz Yusif told Metro FM.
“The fact that others have failed there doesn’t mean I will also fail once I get there.
“I have never compared myself to anyone throughout my career.
“I want to believe that I will do well there.â€
