Deputy sports minister Vincent Oppong Asamoah has denied the Black Satellites are ill motivated leading to their 1-0 defeat to Mali in the final group game at the Africa Youth Championship.

The Black Satellites produced a lackluster performance against Mali and were 1-0 loser on the day meaning they play Nigerian at the semi-final stage.

The team showed progressive strength in their first two games with a routine 2-0 win against South Africa and showing mental toughness to recover from a goal down to beat Zambia 2-1 in their second game.

They however looked flat in their final game against Mali with some attributing their performance to lack of motivation on the part of authority.

But deputy sports minister Vincent Asamoah denies such claims.

“So far they has not been any penta feeling from the players as far as motivation is concerned,” Oppong Asamoah said

“To me they have given off their best and even sometimes the best motivated side loss.

“Chelsea lost recently who said they were not motivated.

“For me there are a lot of scouts around and that is a big motivational factor for them to play for.”
