Di Carlo: The dream continues for Spezia

Spezia coach Domenico Di Carlo could hardly contain his joy after his side knocked Roma out of the Coppa Italia at the Stadio Olimpico on Wednesday afternoon.

The Serie B oufit defeated the Giallorossi 4-2 on penalties after the game ended 0-0 after extra-time, and are now set to face Alessandria in the quarter-finals next January.

“I congratulate the group, we played the game we had to play,” said Di Carlo to Rai after the game.

“We were more compact, I’m glad that my interpretation of the match worked out.

“Now we can enjoy this qualification, we deserve it.”

The Aquilotti are now set to face Liga Pro side Alessandria at the Stadio Alberto Picco in the quater-finals and the former Sampdoria coach is looking forward to the challenge.

“I’m really looking forward to the game against Alessandria, the dream continues for us,” he added.

“Congratulations to everyone, now we will play at home and try to get to the semi-finals.

“It will be a historic event that all of Spezia will enjoy.”
