Di Francesco: Sassuolo deserved more against Palermo

Sassuolo coach Eusebio Di Francesco feels hard done by his side’s result against Palermo and admits the team are experiencing a dip in form.

The Neroverdi were only able to muster up a 2-2 draw at home against Palermo, despite creating a great deal of chances, especially after the Rosanero were reduced to ten men.

“Mentally, we are struggling,” Di Francesco admitted.

“If you look at the numbers you will see that we dominated the match but we were not able to close it out.

“We are less clinical than we were a few weeks ago but the team continues to demonstrate a high level of quality.

“We were naive for Palermo’s two goals but I am content with today’s performance.

“We will work to rectify our mistakes throughout the week.”

Sassuolo were given headaches by Palermo attacking midfielder Franco Vazquez and the coach singled out the performance of the Italy international.

“Vazquez created many problems for us but my players did well in their attempt to contain him,” Di Francesco concluded.
