Despite their impressive start to the GN Bank Division One League, head coach of Bekwai Youth Football Academy, Abdul Rahman Yakubu says they are not eyeing qualification into the Ghana Premier League.

The newly promoted side has been phenomenal in their maiden DOL season picking 11 points out of a possible 18 and placed third of the Zone 3 league table.

Three wins, a loss and two draws have seen the young side cruising to the top with just six matches in the season with many touting the as a side for the elite division.

But the head coach of the side believes his charges are not ready for the Premier League adventure.

"We are happy with the performance of the team so far and we hope to keep the form as such.

"These are young boys with an average age of 19 years so we don't want to rush them in anything. We need to keep shaping them and prepare them for the rest of the matches," he said.

Asked whether his side is ready for the Premier League, he said: "Not for now. We lack so many things to play in the Premier League. There is not doubt the boys can play and shock many clubs but financially we are not ready."

"We also believe that the boys must be mentally fit for the Premier League challenge and this being our first season in the DOL, we don't think they have that mental strength.

"They are developing very strong attitudes and conducts in their matches and we need to encourage them. When it is time to qualify for Premier, the whole world will know," he added.

The Bekwai-based side enjoyed an impressive run in the Division Two qualification to the DOL, winning 13 out of 14 matches and have sustained it with a sharp performance in the DOL so far.
